Hello Everyone!

This past week we learnt about PREPOSITIONS OF PLACE and we worked on the booklet.

We watched some videos and we used our hands to learn prepositions.

We also did a lot of revision for the speaking mid-term exam.

We practised personal questions such as:
  1. What's your name? My name is...
  2. How old are you? I am 6 years old.
  3. Where do you live? I love in Neuquén / Cipolletti
And we revised WEATHER vocabulary, SCHOOL OBJECTS, COLOURS, NUMBERS, PETS, WILD ANIMALS and FARM ANIMALS.

WE ARE READY FOR THE MID-TERMS!!!

Hi Everyone!

We had some eventful weeks! Let us tell you all about it...

First of all we learnt two new sounds and we finished Jolly Phonics' group 3

/f/ as in FISH - FOX - FUN and FROG.
and /b/ as in BIG - BAG - BED and BED
We learnt a lot about classifying animals. We now know that animals can be classified into:

1. How they move:
  • some animals can walk, jump or run because they have legs.

  • some animals can swim with their fins.

  • some animals can fly with their wings.

  • some animals can drag their bodies.

2. The ways animals are born.
  • Animals that develop inside an EGG like turtles, eagles and fish are called OVIPAROUS.
  • Animals that develop inside the WOMB of their mothers like mice, dogs and koalas are called VIVIPAROUS.

3. Animal teeth.
  • Animals like pumas, lions and polar bears are CARNIVORES, they have sharp teeth to tear into meat.
  • Animals like sheep, cows and zebras are HERBIVORES, they have flat teeth that allow them to grind up food.
  • Animals like brown bears and foxes are OMNIVORES, they have both sharp and flat teeth.
4. Two of four legs.
  • Animals that walk on TWO FEET like ducks and kangaroos are called BIPEDS.
  • Animals that walk on FOUR FEET like pigs and hippos are called QUADRUPEDS.
5. Size.

We also had our 3rd mock exam on wild animals and we learnt the names of FARM ANIMALS

Last but not least, ARTSPOT, an educational theatre company came to our school to perform "D'ARTAGNAN DEFENDING THE CROWN". We had so much fun! The kids really enjoyed it.

During the past two weeks we learnt a lot of new things. Here is what we did.
As regards Jolly Phonics we learnt all these new sounds belonging to group 3:

/g/ as in girl, glass, goat
/o/ as in octopus, sock, pond
/l/ as in lemon, lamp, log
/u/ as in umbrella, duck, sun, drum

The kids know a lot of vocabulary and are starting to read more and more as we go on learning new sounds. They are doing great! Congrats to all!

We revised pet words and we learnt the names for wild animals by playing games with flashcards and watching some videos. You can find them on the SONGS & STORIES page.

We worked on the booklet and we are making a big effort to read their names. The children focus on the 1st sound and it makes it easier for them.

We also learnt about different HABITATS. It is a place where living things move around and live. The children also learnt to classify animals according to their habitat (AQUATIC-TERRESTRIAL and TERRESTRIAL).
To consolidate these ideas, we worked on the Science book on pages: 22-23-24-25.
Last but not least on this topic, look at what we made!

THE SAVANNAH and THE JUNGLE.

That's all folks! Remember to click on GAMES and SONGS!

Last  but not least, we worked with the science book.
We talked about the needs of living things and the difference between domestic and wild animals.
These were our conclusions:
1- Living things need FOOD, WATER and AIR to survive.
2- DOMESTIC ANIMALS (PETS) live with people, they are our friends and help us with certain activities.
3 - WILD ANIMALS live in natural environments, they hunt for food or eat plants.

See you on Monday!

Friday, 15 April 2016

Hello everyone, and happy Friday!
This week we learnt two new sounds:
/h/ as in HAND, HEAD, HILL and HEN.

and /r/ as in RED, RUN, RAT and REST.

We also learnt new vocabulary:
PETS

We worked on the science book and we learnt the difference between:
LIVING things

 a CAT                                   a PLANT

and NON-LIVING things

a ROCK                 an UMBRELLA

After reading our book and analysing the pictures, we came to the conclusion that the difference between living and non-living things is:
  • LIVING things GROW, they REPRODUCE and they REACT.
  • NON-LIVING DON'T grow, reproduce or react.

We read a story and we watched 2 videos about a fat cat that sat on a mat

and we had some fun making our own fat cats on mats.
